Aaron Bernard Rhines, 89, of Kosciusko, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home, in Kosciusko.

Mr. Rhines was born to Cooper and Flaulen Rhines, on January 7, 1927, in McCool, Mississippi. He graduated from Ethel High School, and served in the United States Army. At the close of World War II, he came home to marry his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Faye Vance. He was a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. When he retired, he and Miss Dot moved "home" to Kosciusko, where they enjoyed the fellowship of old and new friends. They were adventurous travelers, visiting Europe, and most of the United States, by boats, planes, buses, trains, cars, tents, and campers. Faithful members of the First United Methodist Church, in Kosciusko, they also were volunteers at the Natchez Trace Visitors Center, and the RSVP.

Mr. Rhines was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Vance Rhines.

He is survived by his son, Aaron Bernard (Betty) Rhines, Jr.; grandchildren, Amy Rhines (Todd) McRaney, and Bradford Whitten (Julie) Rhines; great-grandchildren, Katie Rose McRaney, Sarah Elizabeth Claire McRaney, and Louis Barrett Riley Rhines; and several brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends and family, at Jordan Funeral Home, on Tuesday, April 26, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Liberty Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to Kosciusko First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1293, Kosciusko, MS 39090, or the Liberty Chapel Cemetery Fund, 1400 Audubon Point Drive, Horn Lake, MS 38637.
