Brian Thomas Kirby, 21, passed away Wed. Nov. 9, 2011 at his home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be from 12pm.-1pm. Sat. Nov. 12, 2011 at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 1pm. Sat. Nov. 12, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Brandon, MS with a 3pm graveside service following in Terry Cemetery in Terry, MS. Father Brian Carroll will officiate the services. Pallbearers are Alan Kirby, Robert Kirby, Tate Kirby, Mark Jones, Spencer Kornegay and Matthew Harmon. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Brian was a lifelong resident of Rankin County, MS and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Pine Lake Church in Brandon, MS. Brian was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America and he graduated with honors from Northwest High School in 2009 and was named best offensive lineman for the 2008-2009 football team. He was currently attending Hinds Community College at the Rankin Campus and also served in the Mississippi Army National Guard with the 287th Engineer Battalion out of Lucedale, MS, where he got back home on Feb. 28, 2011 from a 13 month tour in Afghanistan. Brian was presently drilling with the 155th Combat Engineer Battalion in Columbia, MS. His Decorations and Medals included the Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star, NATO Afghanistan Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces reserve Medal w/M Device, and the Combat Action Badge.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Dorinda Kirby of Brandon; his sister, Kaylon Kirby Monahan (Josh) of Goshen Springs; his brother, Adam Kirby and his finance (Crystal Smith) of Brandon; paternal grandmother, Edna Goode Kirby of Raymond; maternal grandparents, Tommy and Bessie Duncan of Terry; his niece, Cameron Monahan; four nephews, Kayden Monahan, Andy Smith, Ryan Smith, and Joshua Gage Monahan. Brian is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Kirby.
