Catlin Carithers Obituary
Meadeville
Catlin Hugh Carithers crossed the threshold into Heaven, Sunday evening, May 20, 2012, as his life here was ended by rioting prisoners. His witness in his 24 years cannot be silenced as he often spoke of the Lord with contagious enthusiasm. Catlin lived his faith, always for the underdog, helping anyone he could, encouraging when needed and always witnessing for his Saviour. He was active in the youth ministry of his church, enjoyed football, hunting, fishing, golf and the companionship of his friends. He was exited about the planned marriage to his love, Katie Simpson in June 2013. As an organ donor, he has continued to carry on his legacy of service to others.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward David Clark, Jr. and paternal grandparents, William and Annie Pearl Hammons Carithers. Catlin is survived by his parents, Brenda and Hugh Carithers of Fayette; his brother, Josey Carithers of Fayette, his maternal grandmother, Olivia Ann Clark of Fayette and his extended family, Kathy, Randall and Dane Hodges.
Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. On Saturday, May 26, 2012 there will also be a visitation from Noon until the service hour of 2:00 PM at the Siloam Baptist Church on Hwy. 98-E in Meadeville in Jefferson County. Rev. Leon Wallace, Catlin's Pastor, will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be David Bishop, Roy Bishop, Edward Clark, Jason Clark, Adam Carithers, Will Clinkscales, Chris Oglesby and Dane Hodges.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Hodges, Kenneth Douglas and the Franklin County District Five Fire Department Staff.Memorials are requested to the Siloam Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 8031 Hwy. 98-E, Meadeville, MS 39653 or to the charity of your choice.

To the friends and loved ones of Officer Carithers, I am so sorry for the loss of this fine young man. I too am a correctional officer and his loss is felt throughout our profession. I pray you find comfort in the fact that he is now serving the Lord he loved and one day you will be joined together with him in that heavenly chorus. Please know I will be praying for you in days and years ahead. When I lost my nephew , a fine man and Police officer on Christmas eve, I found much solace in this verse John 16:22. I am hurt by the loss of our brother Catlin. I did not know him but shed tears for him just the same. Gone but not forgotten brother. As a former Correctional Lieutenant, I salute your courage and mourn your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

Catlin Carithers you, your family, fiance, friends and co-worker are in my prayers and thoughts. I have heard of all the good things that you have done and were still doing. Catlin was working for Jesus helping others and now we know that he is in heaven. May Jesus bless and strengthen you all.
