Connie Benson Obituary

Connie B. Benson

Terry, MS

Connie Benson, age 50, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2013 at approximately 10:30 pm after a courageous fight with cancer. She was surrounded by her two sisters, Pearlie Owens, Angela Warner and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Myrtha Cooper, step-father Edmond Cooper and sister Gwen Jenkins and is survived by her two children, Marcus and Meghan Benson, their father Murdock Benson, her father Jesse Brown, and a host of family and friends. Connie was a native of Utica, MS, but spent the last years in the Hinesville, GA area where she created and hosted Community Buzz with Connie B. The show's motto was "Bringing a smile to your Community" and that she did everywhere she went. She will be greatly missed, but is now in a better place-in the arms of our sweet Jesus. Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 23th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John M. B. Church, located on 5456 Morrison Road in Utica. Westhaven Funeral Home located at 3580 Robinson Street, Jackson, MS 39209 is in charge.

I just now have heard of her passing and the fight with the cancer I was unaware off and I am deeply sadden I wasn't able to say Good Bye, we have spoken often and shared many laughs together. I known her for many years from the PX and later on she filmed me for a X-Mas Commercial, she even won a Framed Art in one of my drawings, and was overly excited about it. We spoke last in the summer months and talked about a small trip together :-( It is sad, so sad and I will miss her dearly. I know she is in a better place and I will meet again with her.

I was beyond devastated to learn of the untimely passing my beautiful soror. Connie truly embodied all of the qualities of finer womanhood, ser vice and sisterly love. Though it has been decades, I will always fondly recall her smile. This is difficult to accept, but we all know that God makes no mistakes. So we must continue to pray for Connie's children and the rest of her family as they approach what we know will be a difficult season. The memory of Connie is like a butterfly. When we pledged Connie fluttered and flickered around and putting smiles on each line sisters face as she touched each one of us. God saw Connie was getting tired and a cure was not to be. He put his loving and secure arms around her and whispered “Come to me my loving and sweet child, your job is done”. Life is external, love is everlasting and death is just a horizon when you are with the Lord. Family, keep Connie's memories and hold them close because she is now watching over you and her children. Peace be with you. Line Sister #9 Mariea (Zeta Phi Beta, Inc.)
