Harvey Collier Obituary

Harvey Collier died Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Hospice Ministries.
Harvey "Bill" Collier, son of the late Harvey and Bertha Gipson Collier, was born May 30, 1930, in the Kone Hill Community of Rankin County. He received his early education in the Rankin County Public School at Kone Spring Community School.
He joined the Mt. Ridge United Methodist church at an early age and actively participated in the Worship Ministries of the church. Bill's passion was singing. He sang with his family, "The Collier Singers", The Church Choir, and Mountain Ridge Male Chorus. In addition to his singing he carefully maintained the cemetery for the church.
On December 24, 1951 he was united in holy matrimony to Hazel Annette Scott-Collier; to this union no children were born.
Bill was no stranger to hard work. He began his long productive career with Marquette Concrete at an early age. He gave thirty years of uninterrupted, faithful service to the company. He later worked for Rankin County's Beat Four Road Department for many years.
His son, the late Rev. James Randolph, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory; a devoted wife, Mrs. Hazel Annette Collier; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Randolph; Daughter Dorothy (Johnny) Enochs; grandchildren, James Randolph Jr., Jonathan Randolph, (Casey) Jason Randolph, (Kim), Nina Enochs, and Camelia Enochs; two great-grandsons; and one great–granddaughter; six sisters, Velma Lock, Earline (James) Redd, Harvey Lee (Wilbert) Lofton, Carrie Jean (Willie) McCollum, Eva Mae (Ben) Mangum, and Ruegeaner (James) Longino; five brothers, Ernest "Pete" Collier of Detroit, MI, Earsell (Carrie) Collier of Saucier, MS, Lonnie (Betty) Collier, Walter (Hazel M.) Collier and Jerry (Janie) Collier.
Funeral Services will be held today at 11:00 am at Mountain Ridge United Methodist Church in Brandon with burial in the church cemetery. Services are entrusted to Dean Memorial Funeral Home in Brandon.
