James Beasley Obituary

Rev. James Roy Beasley, 87, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA. On this, their 64th anniversary, Rev. Beasley joined his wife, Gertrude Beasley who entered the presence of Jesus in December 2008.
Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Gray Funeral Home in Union Springs, Alabama with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon is handling local arrangements.
Rev. Beasley was born in Pinkard, Alabama and reared in Union Springs, Alabama. He had been a resident of West Monroe, LA since 2007 moving from Brandon and was a member of Brandon Baptist Church. Rev. Beasley was a WW II Army/Air Corp Veteran, having served in the South Pacific for the duration of the war. After the war, he married his wife and moved to Pensacola, Florida, and later answered the call to the ministry. He graduated from Clarke College, Mississippi College and he attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana before retiring from the ministry, and also worked for the Clarion Ledger before his final retirement.
Survivors include his children, Rev. James (Jim) Beasley (Mary Lou) of Albany, GA, Doreen (Dee) Beasley McCardle of Jackson, Gerald (Jerry) Ray Beasley (Glenda) of West Monroe, LA and Randolph (Randy) Lee Beasley (Kae) of West Monroe, LA; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or the homeless shelter that his daughter started, Solid Ground, 17955 Eleven Mile Road, Roseville, MI 48066.
