James Woodson Obituary
James Randall Woodson,82, of Macon, MS passed away February 21, 2008 at University Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. from Macon Presbyterian Church, Macon, MS. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery.Visitation will be held Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Woodson was born in Oktibbeha County, MS on June 21, 1925 to Hal and Ruby Skidmore Woodson. He was a US. Marine veteran of World War II participating in the battles of Pelileiu and Okinawa as a member of the first marine division. He received a purple heart for wounds he received in the Battle of Okinawa. He moved to Macon in 1946. He attended a branch of Mississippi State University. He was the owner of Woodson Refrigeration for many years and was also a rural mail carrier. He was one of the founding board members of Central Academy where he served as treasurer. He was a member of Macon Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He was an avid golfer and long standing member of the Zack Brooks Golf Course.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Woodson Hill and her husband Lowell of Macon, MS and his son Jim Woodson and wife Ann of Brandon, MS; 3 step daughters; Ann Perkins and husband Charlie George, Pam Adams and husband Morgan, Jolynn Cotton and husband Steve all of Macon, MS; a brother, Eddie Forbess of Natchez, MS; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two wives Edna Wilson Woodson and Sarah Lavender Woodson; and his step father, Robert Forbess.
