Jean Taylor Obituary

Jean Edens Taylor, 83, a homemaker, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at The Promise Hospital in Ferriday, LA.
Visitation is Saturday April 18, 2009, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery. Stricklin-King Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Jean and her husband, John, married in October of 1945, after having met during WWII. They then made their home in Yazoo City, MS, where her husband was a native. She was an active member in Trinity Episcopal Church giving of her time and talents in decorating the church on so many occasions. She was also a member of the Yazoo City Junior Auxiliary and the Yazoo Country Club Woman's Golf Association. It was here where she enjoyed her numerous friends and gave unselfishly of her time to the creativity and success of these organizations. Jean was highly known for her skill in cooking which she so enjoyed. She was a respected caterer in the Delta of Mississippi after her husband past away too soon in 1974. She devoted her love and time to her husband and so loved and cared for her three children, opening her home to all of their friends. Jean had a way of making everything she did a little bit special and unique in her own way.
Survivors include: two sons, John E. (Kay) Taylor, Jr. of Natchez and Albion "Abby" Edens (Dawn) Taylor of Fairhope, AL; daughter, Eden Taylor Lacoste of Germantown, TN; seven grandchildren, Presley Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Pepper Taylor, Dallas Taylor, Abby Carroll Taylor, Emily Lacoste and Anna Lacoste; and sister-in-law, Carrie L. Taylor of Yazoo City.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Edward Taylor, Sr.
Memorials may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 145, Yazoo City, MS 39194.

eden, abby & johnny, i am so sorry about your mom. she was the coolest lady and i enjoyed growing up with ya'll and having her be one of my mamas in the neighborhood. she was so special and she will be missed by so many! i am working in nyc and won't be able to get home for the funeral but just wanted all of you to know that i am thinking of you. love & hugs, cindy mcgraw
