Jimmy Blanks Obituary
Ridgeland, MS
James Thomas Blanks (Jimmy), 91 passed away at The Orchard, on July 30, 2013. He was born on October 22, 1921 in Meridian, MS. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, but had been unable to attend in recent years, due to his health. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jimmy graduated from Mississippi State University in aeronautical engineering. He honorably served his country in the U. S. Army as an officer in the Philippines in WWII. He spent most of his life in the insurance business, before he retired.
He is preceded in death by his wife Polly, whom he took excellent care of, for many years, many years. He is survived by daughter, Patty Reeves (Bill) of Starkville, MS and a son Tommy (Becky) of Jackson, MS, three grandchildren, Brad Blanks (Caroline) of Madison, MS, David Blanks (Shannon) of Jackson, MS and Callie Harrison (Mark) of Peachtree, GA, and six great-grandchildren, Abby Blanks, Thomas Blanks, Hampton Blanks, Ella Henderson. Will Henderson, and Maclure Blanks.
Family would like to thank his devoted caregiver for many years, Mary Fitzgerald. He will certainly be missed by many who loved and cared for him deeply. A family graveside service will be held at Wright and Ferguson on the Highland Colony Parkway on Thursday August 1, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blair E. Will always remember Jimmy having a big smile and words of encouragement for everyone he knew. The Hanging Moss Circle days, Pabst Blue Ribbon boxing nights with the tv out on the porch, it was a gravel street in the early 50's! He always went the extra mile for his customers, from the grocery store, to his MONY accounts. A great sense of humor, a great husband and father, and a nice man! A true positive influence on our then young lives, will always be grateful for that! Many, many thanks!

I feel truly blessed to have known Jimmy and my sincerest sympathies go to his family. Jimmy was a great guy, fun to be with and will be missed by all who knew him, especially the members of the "MONY Lunch Bunch." Sue Coker

So sorry to read of death of dear friend, insurance agent, and fellow member of the First Christian Church. He will be missed by everyone but he is in God's hands now.
