Marshall Alexander Obituary
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 20, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 5202 Watkins Drive, Jackson, MS. Burial will be held in DeKalb, MS in the Unity Springs Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a family/friends hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Collins Northside Chapel, 461 West Northside Drive, Jackson, MS.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Marshall through Michael, although we didn't know each other extremely well I still call him my friend. He was an amazing and funny man, he will truly be missed. My prayers go out to the family and may God help you find solace.

We write this message with heavy hearts because we loved and looked up to Uncle Marshall. He bought many smiles to our faces and joy to our lives. When death comes, we always regret what we did not say or do with our love ones. Uncle Marshall knew our love for him, perhaps not the depth of it. Micheal, you are much like your father; strong and always giving; continue in your father's foot steps and give. God is faithful, He will comfort you as no one else can, just know that and trust Him.

My thougts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Marshall Alexander. I served in the MS Air National Guard with Mr. Alexander before he retired and he helped me to purchase my first home back in 1986. He left his mark on many individuals lives and they were made better for having known him. God bless and keep you all.

I would like to give you my deepest sympathy. Marshall was a man that will never be forgotten. He helped me to own my very first home in Byram, Ms. Even when I wanted to give up and leave it alone he would not let me, he would continue to push me. And in three to four months later I moved in my home. He was diligent and patient and loved poeple. You will be in my prayers.

Marshall will certainly be missed. I will never forget him. He was such a help when Perry and I put our lives in his hand as he served as the general contractor when we built our first house years ago in Meridian. My prayers are with the entire Alexander family.

Our hearts are heavy as we learned of the passing of Marshall Alexander. What a remarkable man and what a well-lived life. I will always remember Marshall with fondess as he was a student of my father, the late Shelly V. Jackson, and my father always spoke highly of Marshall as a student, as a man, and as a humanitarian. Margie and Michael, there is no sorrow on earth that heaven cannot heal. We pary for you in the days and weeks to come that you will be comforted by the memories of the great man.

Our sincere condolences and prayers are with the entire Alexander family. Mr. Alexander was truly a remarkable man. We'll forever be grateful for how he imparted and impacted our lives. He truly fulfilled the scripture in Romans 13:8 that says, "Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." He went over and beyond the call of duty to better enrich the lives of those who needed him because he believed that everyone should have the "American Dream" of owning their own home. Deepest sympathy and condolences to the Alexander family. Marshall was instrumental in helping us purchase a home earlier this summer. We thought it was not possible, but he was willing to go the extra mile to make our dreams become a reality. What a generous and kind man.
