Mary Shaw Obituary

Mary Ann Pearce Shaw passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 in Madison, MS at St. Catherine's Village. She was 86 years old.

Born in Greenwood, MS, Mary Ann lived there until she married Joseph Reid Bingham in 1944. Reid passed away in 1969, and she later married Z. George Shaw of Dallas, TX in 1979. George passed away in 1982, and Mary Ann moved back to Greenwood where she spent the next 27 years as an active member of the community. She loved spending time with family and friends and will be remembered for her angelic sweetness in addition to her wonderful sense of humor and service. She was a compassionate advocate for many charities and was especially dedicated to serving the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. In 2009 she moved to St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS to be closer to family.

Mary Ann will be lovingly remembered by her four children: J. Reid Bingham of New York, NY, Sidney P. Bingham of La Crescenta, CA, David H. Bingham of Gulfport, MS, and Sallie Bingham Terry of Brandon, MS. She had nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister, Sarah Hall Watters, of Lilburn, GA, who is married to Sid Watters Jr. and her two sons: Sid Watters III and his wife Kitty of Duluth, GA, their youngest son Ben Watters along with his wife Carol of Marietta, GA.

Services were held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 14th at St. Catherine's Village Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

The family expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all her cherished friends who supported and loved her during the many wonderful years of her life.
