Max A. Hodges

Indianola

Max Anderson Hodges, Sr., 78, of Indianola died March 6, 2011 in the Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:15 Tuesday, March 8 at the Fairview Baptist Church in Indianola, Mississippi, followed by funeral services at Fairview at 11:30. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Burton Funeral Home of Indianola. Max was married to Dot Hodges, his wife of fifty-eight years, who preceded him in death on November 11, 2010. He was a longtime member of the Fairview Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, as Chairman of the Deacons, and Chairman of the Building Committee. Max served as Chairman of the Building Committee at Indianola Academy. He was a farmer and a businessman. He was born in Sunflower County to James Calvin Hodges, Sr. and Martha Louise Hodges. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Debbie Bell (Neil White) of Oxford, MS, Max Hodges, Jr. (Carrie) of Indianola, Helen Abraham (Michael) of Indianola, Cheryl Mesler (Corey), and Will Hodges (Kim) of Dallas, TX; sister, Etoie Taylor of Beaumont, Texas; brother, J.C. Hodges of Indianola, MS, and eleven grandchildren.

I was so sorry to hear that Mr. Hodges was gone. He was a fine man and a pillar of the community for many years. Debbie, Max, and Helen you are all in our prayers. Your Dad was a special man and he will be missed. God bless all of you.
