I am signing this Guest Book for my father, Robert Denny Watt. He was a fraternity brother, University of Washington Class of '35. Dad is now the only surviving member of that class. He is very emotional about the passing of his friend. He is now 95 and would like to do something himself, but he has just moved to a nursing home after two weeks in the hospital, and he will have to recuperate for a while. Yesterday he told me a story I would like to pass on.
In '31-'32, Dad and Neg were double dating and went out to a speakeasy located about a mile west of Kenmore. Apparently it was not a very gentile place, but the college students liked it. Another patron said something to my father's date, and Dad took offense. He said something to the person bothering his date, and the guy said "Wanna fight?" With that, Neg stood up from his chair and said "Yes." It was clear that Neg was a lot bigger than the other guy, but the offender didn't want to back down and they started to head outside. The other guy's friend said "Hey, he's the one who just won the UW's heavyweight boxing title. Let's get out of here." With that, the others left, and Dad and Neg were sat down to enjoy the bootlegged liquor and their dates.

Mr. and Mrs. England gave me my first job when I was 16, doing office work for them. They were both lovely people. I have many memories of Mr. England out at the JYC. My sympathy to the England family.

I knew Mr. England through his wife Jane. She was a Commissioner at the Boat and Water Safety Commission. He and his wife were wonderful and caring people and shared their sailing knowledge with others. May his family be blessed during this time and always.
