R.B. Reeves, Jr.
McComb
Retired Chancery Court Judge, R.B. "Breezy" Reeves, Jr., 79, died quietly at Beachham Memorial Hospital, Sunday, June 15, 2008, due to a brief illness.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2008, from 9 a.m. till services at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of McComb, Rev. Donald Dick will officiate, and burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery.
R.B. was born August 1, 1928 in McComb MS., he was the son of R.B. Reeves Sr. and Madge Simmons Reeves
R.B. grew up in McComb where he graduated from McComb High School in 1947. There he was honored as All Big Eight in basketball from 1945-1948 and All Big Eight in football in 1946. He was recently inducted into the McComb High School Hall of Fame in 2006. He went on to attend the University of Mississippi where he lettered in basketball from 1947- 1951. R.B. graduated from Ole Miss with a BA degree in 1951, and a Juris Doctorate in 1953. After graduation, R.B. and his family settled in McComb where he was an Attorney. He served as a State Senator from 1964-1976 where he was chairman of the Highway Committee and served on the Ways and Means Committee. Before retiring in 1994, he served the Fourth District as Chancellor for twelve years. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of McComb where he served as a deacon and on many committees.
R.B. is preceded in death by his parents and infant son, R.B. Reeves, III.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gail Ingram Reeves; one daughter, Gail Reeves Lindley of McComb; one brother, Robert S. Reeves of Magnolia; three grandchildren, Tommy Lindley, Christy Lindley Thornton and Joey Lindley with three great grandchildren. He lived a life of truth and love and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Lindley, Joey Lindley, Joey Thornton, Hollis McGehee, Conrad Mord, Tom Jeffcoat, and Terry Boyd.
