Stephan Lemmons Obituary

Stephan Elizabeth Lemmons

Meridian - June 14, 1981-January 24, 2018

Above all, Stephan wanted to a make a positive difference other's lives. The impact of Stephan's too short life will not be measured by the pain of her January 24, 2018 passing, but rather by the joy she gave to those around her.

Stephan's passing, after a year-long battle against leukemia, cannot overshadow the courage, strength and resilience she demonstrated throughout her life. The cancer that took Stephan must not define her legacy. Her legacy is best viewed as a tapestry resplendently woven of her unending faith, love, compassion and hope. She touched the lives of many—family, friends, young and old as reflected in her personal, academic and professional interests.

Stephan is lovingly remembered by her mother Lisa Loflin Espasito, father and stepmother Steve W. and Jan H. Lemmons, brother Jim Hankins, stepbrother and sister-in-law Lamar and Nicole Hickman, grandmother Martha Lemmons, aunts: Mary Kay Drury and Peggy Lemmons, uncle: Bob Lemmons and cousins: Austin Drury, Laura Lemmons and Adam Lemmons. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Caroline Loflin and grandfathers Roy James (Jim) Loflin and Jack W. Lemmons.

A service Celebrating Stephan's Life will be held at 2 PM on February 17, 2018 at Central United Methodist Church in Meridian, MS with visitation from 1:30-2:00.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the following charities: Hope Village (Meridian, MS), East Mississippi Animal Rescue and The Ocean Preservation Society or the charity of your choice.

I never met Stephan but am close friends with her family. She was indeed a giver to people through her career in education, social services. Her long and courageous fight with cancer was a testament to her tenacity.

I only knew Stephan during her months of treatment here in Houston. However, I was present with her enough to know that she was kind, funny, brave and COURAGEOUS!

I also saw how greatly loved she was by her family and friends.

My husband and I still pray for Jan and Steve and the others who loved her so.
