It was so hard to hear about Ray's illness just days before his passing. Richard Rainer contacted me and told me of the news.I have so many fond memories of Ray and the good times we shared. Everytime I think of Ray, it's a smile on his face and a bounce in his step. I know he his now in a better place and we will see him again some day. God please place your hand on his family and comfort them.

Rhonda & Thad,
I was thinking about Ray walking into church that Sunday that Robert Green announced that he had died. I was so shocked! I didn't even know that he was sick. I remember him as a dear friend from USM. I know that he is in a much better place than us and that we will see him again one day. Tell Thad that he had a wonderful dad with a GIANT heart.

Rhonda, I was so saddend to hear about Ray. I have not seen ya'll in a long time, and I didn't even know that he was sick. Ray was always such a special friend when we were at Southern. I remember how neat it was when I found out that ya'll were married, since I knew you and your family so well from the days at Briarwood. I just want you to know that you and your son are in my thoughts and prayers. May God give you the strength and comfort that you need at this difficult time. With deepest sympathy, Kathleen Heard McNeil

Dear Rhonda and Thad,

My thoughts and prayers are with you both. I went to school with Ray in Laurel, MS and have vivid memories of his smiling face and boundless energy. Dear Rhonda, Thad, and all of Ray's family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Ray and I went to the same church in Laurel growing up, and then when I went to USM, he was one of the few people I knew. He was so nice to me, and took the time to introduce me to so many people. He truly had one of the best personalities of anyone I've known. I was so happy when he married you, Rhonda. I have always thought y'all were such a precious couple. I have not had the opportunity to see Ray in many years, and I told my husband last night after getting word of Ray's death that I wish I could have seen him again. My husband's reply was, YOU WILL! I am so thankful for that. I am blessed to have known Ray, and I will continue to pray for you all.

This past week old friends in the Southern Miss Greek system told me that Ray had cancer and I just couldn't believe it; then today I received the email telling me he is gone. I am so very sorry for your loss. May God's love and peace be with you at this very sad time.

To the Ray Daniels family:

What a shock! I had no clue Ray was even sick. He serviced our billboard account and he was one salesman we always looked forward to seeing.

What a huge smile and he loved his family dearly! We, at Parkway Pentecostal Church, are here for you. Please do not hesitate to call!

Thank you for the ministry you shared with Bob & me in loving & teaching our precious girls about knowing Jesus. Ray was a treasure God shared with so many for what we think to be way too short a time. Love you guys.

Rhonda and Thad:
Ray once told me he loved the song 'Corner of the Sky." I have thought about this many times over the past few days. I find it appropriate that the lyrics are, "Rivers belong where they can ramble, Eagles belong where they can fly." For it brings special meaning for me to know that Ray is free of pain and able to move on and ramble and fly... and I know that he will fly. I miss him terribly already. And wish you peace of mind and much love and support in the coming days.

Rhonda and Thad:
My deepest sympathies to you. I always looked forward to the fall for USM football. A big part of that was because I would see Ray. I enjoyed his enthusiasm and humor so much. I am so glad for all the times I had with him. I considered him a friend and a brother in Christ. I miss him already, and I'll miss him at USM events. However, I know Ray and he would say to me, don't miss me, but be celebrating. He's in heaven and I know he's cheering on Jesus now.

I remember Ray from high school. Although he was a year ahead of me, he was always kind and polite. As divine intervention would have it, our paths crossed again over 20 years later when his family members, Mr. & Mrs. Thad and Mary Daniels and Mr. & Mrs. Vern and Sarah Linda Daniels, and my daughter, Ebonee formed an amazing relationship. Who knew that friendly guy from R. H. Watkins would have such an impact in my life. To Rhonda and Thad, Jr....our family prayers are with you. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. God's blessings to you.-Carrie Ann.

Rhonda, Thad, Sheila, Cheryl, and everyone fortunate enough to have shared precious time with Ray, please know how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Ray and I were inseparable partners in crime for many years and he was so much more than a friend. He was like a brother to me. Quite often he was like the annoying brother who lived to harrass me, and I'll miss his biting, hilarious commentary. I will miss everything about him. And as devestatingly hard as this is for all of us who love him, I cannot for a second forget how blessed and fortunate I am for having had the honor of having him in my life. And know that I love you all and I am here for anything and everything I can possibly do for you. Bill Jones
