Ft. Donelson Pentecostal Church of God
Christine Ellen Smith Layman, born to Wendal Lennox Smith and Olive Margaret Quimby, on December 30, 1940, in Pownal, Vermont.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Frank J. Layman Jr. and her son Thomas Lenox Layman.
On April 5, 2014, Christine married her surviving husband, Floyd Russell Cooper. She was married in her home by their adoptive tribe The Natick Praying Indians and the marriage was blessed by the elders of the tribe.
She is also survived by her children; son, William Layman of Vermont; son, Stephen Layman of Massachusetts, daughter Wendy Bertram of Massachusetts, grandchildren; Grandson, Cory Bertram of New York, Granddaughter, Sarah Layman of Massachusetts, her niece, Holly Layman of Connecticut and brother Lorin Smith of Maine.
Christine was a skilled nurse of 50 years, graduating from Yale New Haven, with a focus on EMS, mental health and hospice. She was a retired 30-year member of Cornerstone Motorcycle Ministry of NH.
In her younger years, she served as an Air Force Civil Defense aircraft spotter and earned her AF Wings, raced stock cars and sail boats.
Additionally, Christine loved to travel and completed all 48 states and was a member of American Legion Aux Post 72. She loved her church, Ft. Donelson Pentecostal Church of God in Dover, TN, where she will be interred in the adjoining cemetery.
Services will be held at the church, Ft. Donelson Pentecostal Church of God, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 2 PM.
The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the hour of service at the church.
She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed until our reuniting in heaven.
