Jessie Leon Sinks, age 100, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Benton Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Rye’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Jessie entered this life on March 29, 1924, in Montgomery County, TN to the late Daniel Thomas Sinks and Zelma Reynolds Sinks. He loved life and the people he lived life with. He enjoyed helping others and had a big heart for people and animals. Jessie never met a stranger and always made friends, especially during his time at Fieldstone. Jessie enjoyed going to Hardee’s with his friends, playing jokes, and mowing grass. He didn’t understand why he couldn’t mow at 100 years old. His favorite things to eat were bologna, crackers, chicken tenders, and sweets. He also loved time spent in his little red truck, cheering on the Braves and watching the Lady Vols Basketball team. However, his greatest joy of all was his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren always had a way of making his face light up. He will be truly missed by so many, but knowing he was welcomed by so many in Heaven is the greatest blessing.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Sinks; twin sister, Bessie Frances Russell; sisters, Susie Mae Sutton, Erma Jo Eads, Mary Lou Grimes; brothers, D.T. Sinks, Harold Ray Sinks, and Samuel Thurman Sinks.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Jackson, and her husband, Ben Jackson; grandsons, Benton (Vanna) Jackson, and Bryant (Shelby) Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Caylor Jackson, Vayla Jackson, Eloise Jackson, and Eveline Jackson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Fieldstone for their love and care, especially the caregivers, cafeteria staff, and nurses.
