Michael Rey Obituary

Michael Rey, 69, passed away on May 29, 2025, in Bozeman, Montana.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 24, 1956, Michael led a life marked by dedication to family, community, and hard work. Known affectionately as "Coach Mike" in Clarksville Youth Football, he made a lasting impact on many young athletes. He also served as a Boy Scout leader for his son Chad, reflecting his commitment to guiding and supporting youth.

Michael began his professional journey at The Leaf Chronicle, where he met his wife of 45 years, Jayne Rey. His career in sales included roles with Baltz Brothers Packing Company and Hampton Meats. After relocating to Montana, he worked with The Weekly Paper and later founded Rey's Advertising, publishing local magazines that connected and informed the community.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Jayne; sons Chris Rey and Adam Kluge (Kim); brother Patrick Rey (Patsy); sister Barbara Rey Stewart (Larry); and grandsons Jenson and Wesley. He was preceded in death by his parents, James D. and Margaret M. Rey; his son Chad W. Rey; and his sister Carol A. Rey.

Michael cherished his time in Bozeman, Montana, often serving as an enthusiastic tour guide for visiting friends and family. He enjoyed grilling and cooking alongside Jayne and found comfort in watching classic television shows.

True to his nature, Michael made all of his own arrangements and requested no services. His thoughtfulness extended even into his final wishes.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who shared in his life.

I worked with Mike on so many projects over the past 20 years and remember them fondly, especially working together on the Big Sky Sun startup newspaper and all of the concert programs for the Arts Council. I'll miss the few times a year we would catch up about our lives and our health. Sending much love and condolences to the Rey family.

We have been neighbors with Mike and Jayne for the past 9 years. We shared many beers and bottles of wine and have heard so many joyful stories about family and friends and work... no matter how hard we tried, could never get our lawn to look as good as his! Mike is forever in our hearts
Sending you all our love and condolences. Brent and Ginny, Bozeman MT

I have so many memories of Mike that I couldn´t put them all here. We met in 1972 when he was a sophomore in high school and I was a junior. One day after school I was hitchhiking home because I had missed the bus and Mike picked me up. That started a friendship that lasted a life time. Mike was in our wedding in 1976 and we remained friends for whats now over 50 years. Mike loved to joke around and the last time I talked to him you could tell he was in his last days and still joking around with me. Theres not been many men in my life that I truly admire but Mike would definitely be one of them. I loved him like a brother and I will miss him and his friendship greatly.
