Shirley Wright Obituary

Shirley Ann Wright, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 75 years of age. Shirley was born on November 26, 1949, in Smiths Station, AL, to the late John Ashford, Sr. and Mary Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her son, Anthony O'Neal Ashford. And, her sister Mary Jean Brooks and brothers Frank Ashford and John Ashford Jr. Shirley is survived by her husband, Cornell Wright, Sr.; sons, Alphonso (Allison) Ashford, and Maurice Smith, Cornell Wright Jr, and John Cory Wright; daughters, Pebbles (Earl) Poole, Nittia (Harnes) Mitchell; and, daughter in law, LuShawn Ashford. And the siblings living are Dorothy Lewis, Helen (Edgar) Williams, Charles (Ann) Ashford Sr., Nathaniel Ashford, Vanjual (Eddie) Roberson. And, loving sister-in-law Ollie Ashford; as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Shirley was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a generous and giving person. Shirley held a degree in Early Childhood Education which she used to Mother her children as well as all whom she met. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
