Wanda Nell Ferrell Waynick, age 77 of Slayden, TN left her earthly home for heaven on Sunday, October 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Slayden, TN on May 25, 1947, to Howard K Ferrell and Mary "Angie" McCollom Ferrell.
She attended Charlotte High School then married her soulmate, Larry Waynick, on November 22, 1963. For the first few years of their marriage, Wanda worked in the manufacturing industry. Following that she became what was called a "homemaker," and she more than lived up to that title. No one made a happier and more loving home than she did. She enjoyed fishing and traveling, and she had a special love for the Smoky Mountains and the beach. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joys of her heart.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Howard Ferrell and Mary "Angie" Ferrell Hayes, brothers Gwin Ferrell and Randell Ferrell, sisters Imogene Herrell, Carolyn Helton, and Hazel Ferrell, and son Michael Waynick,
Survivors include her devoted husband of 60 years, Larry Waynick, son Barry (Tonya) Waynick, daughter Brandy Blackwell. Five grandchildren Bryan Waynick, Brandon Waynick, Leviticus Waynick, Paige (James) Sawyers and Zachary Blackwell. Three great grandchildren Ryder Waynick, Chloe Sawyers, and Ellie Sawyers; and special family friend and caregiver Hannah Roberts.
Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at McRenolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow at Marion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
The Family would like to thank Tristar Horizon Medical Center and Caris Hospice for the excellent care they provided as well as their support of the family.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Waynick, Brandon Waynick, Leviticus Waynick, Zachary Blackwell, James Sawyers, and Ronnie “Bubba” Davenport.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Marion United Methodist Cemetery fund.
