Wilbur Gene Carr departed this life peacefully on August 4, 2025 at the age of 77 at Signature Healthcare of Erin.
Wilbur was born on September 16, 1947 in Erin, TN, son to the late Beatrice Carr and Watson Thomas Sr.
Wilbur accepted Christ at an early age at Steels Chapel CME Church, Erin, TN. He attended churches in both Houston County and Stewart County and eventually united with Dortch Chapel Christin Methodist Episcopal Church in Ellis Mills, TN, where he worshiped here until his time of death.
Wilbur was educated in the Houston County School System and later would later work for the State of Tennessee (TDOT) where he retired after thirty years of employment. After retirement, Wilbur enjoyed spending time with his daughter, traveling from city to city, and visiting with his eldest cousin, Joe Louis Thomas; and other family and friends. Church events was also a large part of his enjoyment.
In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Marable Carr; and brother, David Skelton.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Elisha Regina Carr; stepmother, Willine Austin that he so lovingly called mom; siblings, Elder Michael Thomas (Regina), Watson Thomas Jr, George Kevin Thomas (Sylvia), Rev. Freda Hall Crutchfield (Carmichael), Addie Smith (Johnny), Jewel Robinson (Tommy), Virginia Alim (Facil); brother in law, Sammy Marable; cousin, Pauline Cooksey; close niece, Sheila Congers, Shanty Coulter; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, and cousins.
We will say farewell to Wilbur Gene Carr on this side of life, while we celebrate his homegoing. His daughter will forever love and cherish him.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers, and flower bearers.
