Charles Hamilton Obituary

Mr. Charles Roy Hamilton, 72, of Hickory St., Hayesville, passed away peacefully at his daughters home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Dec. 3 following an extended illness. Mr. Hamilton was born on Dec. 29, 1952 in Rogersville, Tenn., the son of the late Grady C. Colvin and the late Agnes Lee Hamilton. Charles was a lifelong resident of Clay County. He was passionate about vehicles, especially Chevys (he hated Fords), working on cars and fixing just about anything. Charles was also a house painter and avid Trump supporter. He was a loving and caring companion, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and also three brothers, Jimmy Colvin, Edward Sellers and Buddy Joe Orr. Charles was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Hamilton are his loving companion and best friend of 30 years, Rebecca Lankford of Hayesville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jennifer and James Skinner of Marble, Jessica and Jason Elliott of Marble, Heather Johnson of Asheville; one sister and brother- in-law, Marie and Jerry Hogsed of Hayesville; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Jasmine, Dayrion (Bethany) Malahny (Tim), Allena, Kadence, Jaima, Jordan, Lariah and Lyron; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Aud Brown officiating.
The family met with friends at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Lung Cancer Foundation in Mr. Hamilton's memory.

You were the best daddy in the world, I will miss you terribly, my life won’t be the same without you here. I can’t wait for the day to be able to see you again. I wish we could have done more to save you, cancer is an evil disease-I hate it! I’ll be sure to “Watch for Deer” I love you so much daddy!! Watching to take your last breath was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to endure my whole life, watch over us down here, I will always cherish the times we had and the memories we made.
