Sharon Sanderson Obituary
Sharon Alice Sanderson, 77, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will endure through the lives she touched. Born on June 21, 1948, to George and Evelyn Gould in Rockford, Illinois, Sharon was the cherished wife of Rick Sanderson, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 47 years filled with love and unwavering partnership.
Sharon's life was a testament to love, integrity and strength. She was not only a wife and mother but also a loyal friend. Her commitment to family was firm and her nurturing spirit created a warm and welcoming home.
A devoted Episcopalian, she found joy in spending quality time with her family, whether it was through her hobbies of cross-stitching and reading or simply sharing stories and laughter. Her career as a nurse spanned many years, during which she touched countless lives with her compassionate care and dedication.
Resilient and honest, Sharon navigated life with a quick wit. She was a pillar of strength and support, offering wisdom and love to her family and friends. As a true matriarch, her warmth and kindness were felt by everyone she encountered.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Rick Sanderson, and her children; Jeffrey McKenzie, Todd Gould and Georganne Wiggins. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Hunter Gould, Brittany Biggs, Andrew Heller, Savannah McKenzie, Victoria Umfress, Morgan Wiggins, and Meigan Wiggins. Additionally, Sharon is survived by her great-grandchildren; Alice Wiggins, Geovanni Toc, Michael Wiggins, Jaylen Wiggins, Timothy Canary, Trevor Canary, Silas Biggs, Kimber Biggs, Joshua Umfress, Lauren Umfress and Chloe Umfress.
Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens with Father Bill Breedlove officiating.
Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
