Joseph Carr Obituary

Joseph Carr died suddenly and unexpectedly on Aug. 3, 2018, from heart failure.
Only 30 years old, he was known for his lively wit, his intellect, his humor and his zest for life.
Nothing was ever halfway for Joe. He was loyal and devoted to friends, co-workers and family alike. His work in government affairs lobbying the Colorado Legislature, governor's office, regulatory agencies and local governments enabled him to develop his passion for all things political and to showcase his strong interpersonal skills. In business and in life, he transcended boundaries, and established and valued his long running relationships.
Joe graduated from Clear Creek High School, where he played football and baseball, and was a wrestler. He grew up a fan of the Colorado Rockies and went to spring training in Arizona. He attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and was a Reisher's Scholar at the University of Colorado at Denver, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. He went on to earn an advanced degree, a master of science in international political economy of resources from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
Joe leaves behind his parents, Deidre Scanlon and Patrick Carr; and his siblings Steven and Kara. He is also survived by his grandmother, Marjorie Parr Scanlon; girlfriend Leah Dozeman; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a legion of friends. He will be greatly missed.
There will be a celebration of his life on Aug. 24, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 969 Ulysses St., Golden.

I have grown up with Joe, wrestled, played football, went to college with him. I was talking to him a few days before he passed. I am still trying to wrap my head around it. Joe always provided a perspective that made you think. He was always thinking, and while his views and path didn't always line up with others, he trail blazed in his own fashion. I am deeply affected by the loss of this unique person, who was trying to make this world a better place, in his own way. Joe you will be missed, thank you for playing such a part in my life. You are a childhood friend, who will always stay with me.
