Edna Elizabeth Jedlicka

1924 - 2020

nee Loesch, passed away on November 3, 2020, eight days after her 96th birthday. She was born October 26th, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio to John and Carolyn Loesch into a family of 10. After graduating from West Tech High School she attended Baldwin Wallace College being the only one of her siblings to graduate from college. Her first teaching assignment was to returning WWII veterans at West Tech, where she met her future husband, Willliam "Bill" Jedlicka. They were married in 1948 and had 35 years of marriage. Edna taught at Highland High School in the 1950's when they moved to Medina County. during the 1960s and thereafter she taught at Brunswick High School, with languages (French, Spanish and German) being her specialty, as well as mathematics and English, retiring from teaching in 1983. In 1992, Edna moved permanently to Sarasota, Florida. There she was a golfer, swimmer (even competed in the senior Olympics), dancer, beach walker, and a master bridge player. Edna maintained her membership in the Delta Kappa Gamma (education society) for over 50 years whether she was in Medina or in Sarasota. Besides being active in the Medina United Methodist Church and the Women's guilds, she was the primary organizer of several bridge groups and the best "hugger" at her church in Florida. For the past five years, Edna has resided at Plum Creek Assisted Living, Brunswick, Ohio. Under their excellent care and management, she was able to fulfill the remainder of her days. Their skill and care are greatly appreciated. Edna is survived by her daughters, Vicki Cooper (Allen) and Cindy Metzing (David), three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jedlicka and her son Gregory, as well as her parents and all siblings.There will be no calling hours or memorial service during this pandemic.
