George J. Kapcar

age 79, born March 19, 1943, passed away January 4, 2023. George Kapcar, born in Lakewood, Ohio in 1943, died in New York City in 2023.
A long time resident of Strongsville, Ohio (72 years), he was the son of George and Mary, brother of Marilyn Warner (deceased), Sally Kornick (deceased), and is survived by his twin sister, Joan. Preceded in death by his wife, Lynn (née Martin), he is survived by his children, Scott (Ft Pierce, FL) and Christie Fair (Sevierville, TN). Others, too, played major roles in his life. In his youth, it was "Doc" Gulmi, and later, Charlie Hawk. These men were a positive influence on George, and they and their families were very dear to him .
A graduate of Baldwin Wallace College, he joined the Lamba Chi Fraternity, adding to his coterie of lifelong friends. After graduation, he briefly pursued teaching and coaching, but was recruited into the insurance business, remaining with Allstate until his retirement.
Once he retired, you would find him with one of two things in his hand , a paint brush , or a golf club. The house painting was a skill he perfected over the years , having learned it from his father at a young age. It served him well until he was forced to give it up because of a stroke at the age of 72,
leaving him with very limited vision. The golf club he held on to for the sheer pleasure of it. Although he could no longer play the game , he continued practicing his swing , bringing to mind fond memories of the many golf outings with his buddies.
The challenges that came with losing his vision and adjusting to life in a large city( being a country boy at heart ) , he met head on.
A gifted athlete, a natural wit, more of a scamp than a scholar, he was a friend to many, generous at heart, and in spirit. He will be laid to rest in Strongsville cemetery. Home again, at last.
