Artist/Author, age 90, passed away Saturday, July 17, with his wife at his side after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Lawrence (Larry) was born June 7, 1931, to Henry and Nancy (nee Kudej) Hohman. He graduated from St. Timothy's and then Benedictine High School. Larry then attended The Cleveland Institute of Art where he honed his talent for drawing. After graduation, he entered the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany. Following discharge, he went to work as an art studio designer, then as an art director at Dix & Eaton, and finally as the owner of a commercial art studio, Ad Optics. He owned the studio for 26 years, until retiring in 1996. In his retirement he illustrated and authored a series of alphabetical books in color, for readers young and old. He was honored to have his work included in the University of Findlay's Mazza Museum, the world's largest collection of original artwork by children's book illustrators. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Evelyn (nee Chapel), of 67 years. As a couple, he and Evie shared a love for their Catholic faith. They were founding members of St. John Bosco in Parma Heights and, after moving to Olmsted Falls in 1987, they became active parishioners at St. Mary of the Falls. He had a special fondness for nature and the outdoors, buying land in Ashland County and building a small log cabin from the trees on the property. He also greatly enjoyed golfing and gardening. Following his diagnosis of cancer in January, Larry and his wife moved into O'Neill Healthcare North Olmsted. He was named "resident of the month" in short order. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his four daughters, Lisa Pavlich Bisell (Scott) of Phoenix, AZ, Kristine Dorsey (Robert) of Columbia Station, Paula Tylicki (Jeffry) of Rocky River, Gwen Lindhorst (James) of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren, Forrest (Rose), Jamie, Kendall, Emily, Arwyne, Evan, and Joe; and one great-grandchild, Henry. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carol Chapel Sterling; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Hohman and wife, Maryann; sister, Nancy Brown and husband, Dale; brother-in-law, Edward Chapel; step brother-in-law, Francis (Pat) Belkowski and wife, Dolores; step sister-in-law, Theresa Bilak and husband, John. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday, July 23 at McGORRAY-HANNA FUNERAL HOME OF WESTLAKE, 25620 Center Ridge Rd. (West of Columbia Rd.) 44145. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 24, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Falls Catholic Church, 25615 Bagley Road, Olmsted Falls, Ohio 44138. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery (Brookpark Road.) In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Dear Ev and family, Praying for comfort and consolation on Larry's passing. He was such a nice guy and we enjoyed his visits when he came down here to Ashland county. We have his beautifully illustrated books that we read to our grandchildren as a permanent reminder of a very talented artist. Blessings, Jon and Mary

Larry and I collaborated on many communication projects. He was a real pro and we had many sharings of personal experiences and tracking progress on his log cabin. God's peace be yours.
