It's hard to believe that it was over 50 years ago that I first met Michael in Mrs. Gladys' second grade class at Highland Drive Elementary School. A bunch of us were trying to help him figure out the right bus to go home on from his first day of school with us. He was an instantly likeable person and we became fast friends. I have a lot of great memories of when we would visit with each other at our homes and I especially enjoyed going to his cool house at the top of the hill. As we got older and he headed to Prague, we kept in touch via e-mail and he always had fun stories to tell about his travels around Europe. It wasn't until he traveled to the border of Norway and Russia and wrote me about it was I even aware there was a border between them! He had a great mind and a great heart and we were all enriched by his presence in our lives. Michael, I'm going to miss you...a lot! My thoughts and love are with his family.

Michael was a dear friend of ours. We met him so long ago. He was in sixth grade and so outgoing and friendly.
I loved him as another son. Dolly Szymanski

Last night, I had a rare, vivid dream that Michael and I were walking hand in hand, like we did at Hiram. In the dream, he had to leave and I started sobbing. The dream has stayed with me all day, and I was compelled to look him up online. Dear God, No. To everyone else who loved him, too, I send you my condolences, especially to his mother and his cat, Mumtaz. Ich liebe dich, dear Michael
