Marty Kampe, age 58, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at his home in
Calhoun, Missouri.
He was born on February 23, 1967, in
Clinton, Missouri, to Melvin and Edna Kampe, and spent his entire life in the Calhoun community he loved so dearly.
Marty began working at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in April of 1987, where he devoted more than half his life to the Engineering Department. Through years of dedication and hard work, he rose to serve as Director, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends.
Outside of work, Marty found joy in the simple, meaningful things - hunting, fishing, farming, and sharing laughs with his family and friends. His favorite place was on the riverbank, with his rowdy crew - the Muddobbers - where he picked up the nickname "BBQ Bob" and made more memories than fish they ever caught.
On April 23, 1988, Marty married the love of his life and soulmate, Jennifer Cooper Kampe. For 37 years, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and unwavering devotion to one another. Together, they assembled a large parcel of land where Marty spent the last 25 years doing what he loved most - farming and ranching - always dreaming that one day his grandchildren would carry on the legacy he poured his heart into.
Marty was the kind of man who left a mark on everyone he met. Honest, generous, and loyal to a fault, he never met a stranger and never hesitated to help someone in need - all you had to do was call, and he would be there. He was a fiercely loving and protective father to his daughter, Brittany Lynn, who always had him wrapped around her little finger. He treasured every Saturday trip to the country store with her while Jennifer delivered the mail - simple moments he held close to his heart.
But perhaps Marty's proudest role was being "Gampy" to his six grandchildren - Ariya, Liam, Briar, Kamryn, Charleigh, and Paityn - who brought endless joy and light into his life. Though they occasionally called him "Grumpy Gampy" when testing his patience, they knew just how deeply they were loved.
Marty is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer, with whom he built a beautiful life full of love and laughter. He is also survived by his daughter Brittany Lynn and her fiancé Tyler Norris; his six beloved grandchildren; his sister Virginia Kampe Hughes and her husband Ronnie of Springhill, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Edna Kampe; his brothers Lonnie and Carl Kampe; and one nephew, Shane Kampe.
Marty Lynn Kampe lived a life marked by love, integrity, and devotion - to his family, his friends, his land, and his community. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in every life he touched.
