DAVID F. BENOIT LANCASTER - David F. Benoit, 70, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, November 7, 2024. He is survived by his soulmate and devoted wife of 47 years, Jennifer (Federhen) Benoit; their children and spouses, Derek Benoit and Erin; Gretchen Santiago and Sam; and Joanna Benoit and Taylor Jacobson; and two adoring grandchildren, Maelin and Colin. He also leaves his siblings and their spouses, Ronald Benoit and Helen; Donna Shostak and Gary; Diane Cialdea and Fred; and Robert Bartlett; along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Randall Benoit and Rick Benoit, and his father-in-law, Francis "Larry" Federhen. Son of the late Elaine (Bartlett) and Timothy Benoit, David was raised and educated in Boxborough and was a proud member of Acton-Boxborough High School, class of 1974. He left school early to enlist in the United States Army, proudly serving during the Vietnam War. After three years of service, David was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4th Class. He returned home, completed his studies, and began his lifelong career as a heavy equipment operator and hoisting engineer. David worked for several construction companies and, in addition, owned and operated D.F. Benoit Paving and Landscaping Inc. in Lancaster for several years before ultimately retiring from Middlesex Corporation. Blessed with a mechanical mind, David could fix anything. He especially enjoyed spending time tinkering with his '62 Impala and '48 Chevy truck. He had a passion for travel, particularly to Sanibel Island in Florida and New Orleans, where he became a lifelong fan of jazz. Other hobbies included golfing, riding his Harley-Davidson, collecting antiques, and watching classic TV shows. Above all, David was a devoted family man, deeply in love with his wife, and committed to being the best father and grandfather any man could be. Calling hours were held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. in Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water Street, Clinton. Private burial was held at Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of David F.
