Billy Edwards Obituary
CLINTON — Billy "Bill" Gene Edwards, 73, of 76 Hubbard Place, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clinton, with Father Joseph Dionne officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery.
Billy, born in 1945 in Clinton, was the son of the late Algie Edwards and Bermie Dudley Edwards. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, R. A. Edwards and wife Glenda. He retired as Director of Security with Sampson Bladen Oil in 2016, and graduated from Midway High School in 1963. Billy attended Edwards Military Academy and NC State University. He also was a Veteran of the NC National Guard. He found great joy and love in his grandchildren, dog Marlee and parrots.
Survivors include his wife, Cherlyn Beane Edwards; son, Alex Edwards and wife Lauren of Abbeville, La.; grandsons, Bennett Edwards, Paxton Edwards, and Porter Edwards; brother, Wayne Edwards and wife Janice; sister-in-law, Jennette Chaney; nieces and nephews, Angela Strickland (Glenn), Anthony Edwards (Scarlette), Kristin Edwards, Maegan Edwards; and several great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, 118 Fayetteville St., Clinton, NC 28328.
The family wishes to thank 3HC Hospice for their compassionate care for Bill.
