DUNN — Christopher Shayne Johnson, 51, of 60 Bagley Lane, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Central Baptist Church in Dunn with Pastor Tom Wagoner officiating.
Chris, born March 11, 1972 in Sampson County, was the son of Don Johnson and the late Lynda Lockamy Johnson. He started working in Law Enforcement with the Clinton Police Department and followed with the Dunn Police Department, Sampson County Sheriff Department and ended serving with the Harnett County Sheriff's Department. Chris was a Mason and a Sudan Shriner. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Dunn. Chris was preceded in death by his mother Lynda Lockamy Johnson.
Survivors include: wife of 27 years, Melanie Smith Johnson; children, Nicholas Johnson, Austin Johnson, Brenna Johnson and Mallory Johnson; father, Donald "Don" Johnson and wife Linda; brother, Michael Johnson and wife Carla; mother-in-law, Donna Smith; sister-in-law, Meredith Raper and husband Chris; brother-in-law, Sean Smith and wife Meredith; numerous nieces and nephews; and the kids at Highland Middle School.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Joubert Syndrome Foundation, P.O. Box #84, Spokane, WA 99210.

I am so sorry for the passing of Chris. Many years ago I worked with Chris in the Resale Building at Hog Slat. He had a great personality and was a joy to work with.
Many prayers for his wife, children, family, friends, and the kids at school. I am sure he made a positive impact on their lives.
