ZEBULON — Dorothy Crae Naylor Finch, 87, went to her eternal home on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021.
Crae was born in Sampson County on March 27, 1934 to the late Thadious and Lena Naylor. Crae was a stay at home mom and cared for other children. Once her children were older, she went to work with her husband, Carl Durant Finch, at GC Holden and Co.. When Crae and Durant sold that company, she worked for the buyer, National Food Service Marketing until she retired.
Some of her greatest joys were her children Gail and Carol Finch and Gwyn Price. She loved being involved in their lives and her grandchildren's lives; Meredith, Makayla, Brittany Price and Wilna Siluis. Crae enjoyed camping, leading their Girl Scout troops for many years, sewing, working in her yard and cooking. She enjoyed visiting Myrtle Beach with her beach neighbors and cooking out and playing cards. Crae was also super involved with her church for many years and other civic organizations.
The funeral will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Wakefield Central Baptist Church, 308 Proctor St., Zebulon. Crae will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life Service. Then following the graveside service at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, the Finch family will receive relatives and friends for refreshments back at the church fellowship hall.
Crae has three surviving daughters Gail Naylor Finch, Carol Dail Finch, and Gwyn Mitchell Price (Troy). She also has four surviving grand-daughters Meredith Price, Makayla Waterman (Drew), Brittany Price, and Wilna Siluis. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Joyce Reid Naylor. In addition to her parents, Thadious and Lena Naylor and her husband, Carl Durant Finch, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Glenn Naylor.
