NEWTON GROVE — Mattie Lee (Wilson) Oates, 93, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Newton Grove, Mrs. Oates was born on Nov. 14, 1932, to the late John Henry and Mattie Virginia (Eason) Wilson.
She was the wife of the late Mr. Joe Nathan Oates.
She was also preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Jean Gale (Oates) Morris.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Jo (Oates) West (Hubert); her son, Tony Martel Oates (Deidra); the granddaughter she raised, Dacia (Oates) Rudison, six grandsons, Brenton West (Jordan), Tony Oates, Aaron West (Yael), Philip Oates, Nathan Oates, Solomon Oates; 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at White Oak Disciples of Christ Church. The family will receive friends from 1-1:55 p.m. prior to the service.
