Owen Matthews Obituary
ROSEBORO — Mr. Owen "Jerry" Fed Matthews Jr., 88, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Mintz Baptist Church, officiating will be Dr. Robert Hunter. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Owen Fed Matthews Sr. and Addie Mae Vann Matthews; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Sessoms.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran who served in the Korean War. He also was the owner of Jerry's Auto Service in Roseboro.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice Matthews; sons, Jerry Craig Matthews and wife, Pamela and Eddie Matthews and wife, Shannon; four grandchildren, Alex, Christopher, Caroline and Daniel Matthews; and a sister, Mable Lynch.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 19, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mintz Baptist Church for Mintz Christian Academy Building Fund, 3761 Old Mintz Hwy, Roseboro, NC 28382.
Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
