Patsy Kennedy Obituary

Ms. Patsy Smith Pope Kennedy, 85, of 1230 Andrews Chapel Road, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, at Sampson Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m., at Clinton Cemetery with Rev. Katie Rives officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the home of her son, Tim Pope, at 306 Sprunt Drive, Clinton.

Born on Aug. 29, 1939, in Hyde County, Patsy was the daughter of the late Milton Abner and Myrtle Madeline Eubank Smith and the widow of the late Aaron Emsley Kennedy, Jr. Patsy chose to pursue a career in healthcare where she became a registered nurse to assist those in their time of need. Patsy was a member of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church and attended while her health permitted.

She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey K. Pope (Joy) of Roseboro and Timothy J. Pope (Vicki) of Clinton; four grandchildren, Jeffrey K. Pope, II, Abbie Pope, Madeline Pope Feterman (Trey) and Samantha Pope Faison (Wyman); three great grandchildren, Cameron, Cason and Chandler Pope; one brother, Milton Abner Smith (Judy) of Greenville, S.C.; three stepsons, Darrell Pope (Wanda), of Sneads Ferry, Mark Pope of Sneads Ferry and Walt Pope (Carol) of Magnolia; and many other extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Emsley, Patsy was preceded in death by a stepson, Aaron Emsley Kennedy, III and one sister, Martha Ann Hobbs.
