Patsy J. Matthews
SPIVEY"S CORNER — Mrs. Patsy Jackson Matthews, 66, of Spivey's Corner, died Saturday evening, Oct. 29, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Patsy was born in Sampson County on Aug. 5, 1950 to the late Deb and Betty Warren Jackson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Lenora Matthews and a sister, Betty Jane Jackson.
Patsy worked as a Registered Nurse for a long and wonderful career. With her caring and giving way she brightened any room just by entering. Her loving nature will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Mt. Elam Baptist Church by the Rev. W.H. Calcutt and the Rev. Brandon Glunt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe Matthews; a son, Scott Matthews and wife Lauren of Roseboro; a sister, Deborah J. Warren and husband Butch; a grandson, who was the apple of her eye, Ace Matthews; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Tommy Chang and his caring staff in the Harnett Health System, to Dr. Mark Yoffe and staff of Rex Oncology, and to Community Home Health and Hospice of Clinton, N.C. In addition, Patsy's family extends heartfelt gratitude to family and friends for support, prayers, and the many acts of kindness throughout her illness and her life. May God bless you in a special way.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Elam Baptist Church. Instead of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements are by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home of Dunn.
