Gail Loretta (Nease) Jeffers, 83, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 17, 2025, at home after a long illness with family by her side.
Gail was born January 20, 1942, in Savannah, Georgia to the late Martin Luther Nease and Winifred (Gnann) Nease.
Gail grew up in Garden City, where she also attended school. She was a graduate of Groves High School. After high school, Gail worked at the local soda shop, where she met the love of her life, Huey Jeffers. They fell in love, married, started a family and in 1968, they moved to Isle Of Wight, where they settled and raised their family.
Gail was a woman of great faith who was passionate about her service to the Lord. She had a heart of gold. One of her biggest pleasures in life was giving to those in need.
She co-founded and was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church, which is now Compassion Christian Church in Midway. Gail was church clerk for 18 years, taught Sunday school for many years, led Discipleship Training, was assistant Bible School director, was a member of the choir and was on many committees at the church.
Gail was a present member of South Newport Baptist Church, where she was a clerk for two years and worked in Awana, and was also on several committees.
Gail worked for the Liberty County Board of Education for 10 years. She was co-owner of Heart of Country, Classic Catering and Classic Bakery & Eatery as well as co-owner of Jeff's Crab House.
Gail loved working in her flower-beds. She loved traveling and she wanted to see all of God's beautiful world. She loved her many friends and her church family.
Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Jeffers; her parents, her brother, Woody Nease; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Jeffers.
Gail leaves behind to cherish many memories: her children, Pamela Walker (Rodger) of Richmond Hill, Tonya Jeffers (David Purser) of Midway and Hugh Gene Jeffers (Brandy) of Midway; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Tommy Davis of Midway, Ann and Mickey Langford of Rincon and Jan and Donnie Kessler of Bloomingdale; brother, Marty Nease of Brooklet; sister-in-law, Paula Nease of Titusville, Florida; brother-in-law and his wife, Lynn and Jennifer Jeffers of Savannah; seven grandsons, Chris Daniels, Justin Daniels, William Bowden, Ethan Walker, Zachary Walker, Hugh Jeffers and Skyler Jeffers; one great-grandson, Bankston Albert Walker; and many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
The funeral service will be held Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eric Grissino officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorchester Cemetery on Islands Highway in Midway.
Pallbearers: Lynn Jeffers Jr., Steve Jeffers, Scott and Jason Byrne, Vernon Nease, David Langford and Donnie Kessler.
