Samuel Gladwell Obituary
Born to Adrian and Marian Gladwell on Dec. 1, 1950, in Krebs, West Virginia, SGM Gladwell was a coal miner in his younger years. He retired from the United States Army at Fort Stewart in 2002 after a 30-year career.
Sam enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, fishing, hunting and golfing. He was loved and respected by many and will be truly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Mary Gladwell and Betty Donahue; brother, Arby Gladwell; and brothers-in-law, Bill Brockell and Sterling Hinkle.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Gladwell; daughter, Salina Phillips (Mariano Mathenia); sons, Robert Quinones (Tricia) and Chris Cooper; grandchildren, Tatianna, Samuel, Fiona and Chris; brothers and sisters, Minnie Hinkle, Polly Surface (Ohlen), Jim Gladwell (Sandy), and Pam Stalnaker (Paul), all of West Virginia, Nellie McEver (Mike) of Melbourne, FL, and Henry Gladwell (Elvira) of Schweinfurt, Germany; father- and mother-in-law, Herman and Ruby Hudson of Phenix City, AL; sisters-in-law, Jeannie Rodriguez (Jesus) and Dorothy Brooks (Dennis) of Phenix City; many nieces and nephews; and his best buddy, Jeff Stivenson.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 10 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, 308 W. Oglethorpe Hwy., Hinesville.

I am extremely sadden by Sam's passing. To say that he was a good man would be an understatement. Anyone that can motivate, educate and inspire people is more than good. Sam is/was an exceptional person. We were bless to know him.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss.
I worked for SGM Gladwell, when he was the G6 SGM on Fort Stewart; even went the Skit Range together to practice on shooting skills.
May God provide you enough strength to face these difficult times, although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer
