Michael Anderson Obituary

Michael Lee Anderson,
69, Castle Rock, died Friday
morning. He was born September
15, 1946, in Covington,
KY, the only son
of Gloria Marie Webster
Anderson and Elbert Jasper
Anderson, moving to
Temple City, CA., when he
was three, where he grew
to adulthood, and went to
a military academy in high
school where he played
baseball, was picked up by
a Los Angeles Angels farm
team. He married Jodie
Mischell Adkins-Anderson
Aug. 10, 2009, in Castle
Rock.
He was drafted into the
United States Army at
the onset of the Vietnam
War in 1964, and served
two years in Vietnam in
combat. He attended Officers
Candidate School
and was commissioned as
a lieutenant April 14, 1967,
in the United States Army.
He received the Bronze
Medal for Combat Valor
in Vietnam and in 1970
he was awarded the Army
Commendation Medal for
leadership and resourcefulness.
He served a 22-year Army
career, advancing through
the ranks and leading five
command assignments
prior to his retirement as a
Lieutenant Colonel from
the Army on Sept. 1, 1987.
He was graduated from
the Air War College, U.S.
Army Command and the
General Staff College.
While serving he earned a
master's degree in management
from Webster
University, a master's
degree in business from
Ball State University in
Muncie, Indiana, and an
undergraduate bachelor of
science degree in business
at the University of
Nebraska-Omaha.
Prior to establishing his
own firm, INTECON LLC,
with offices in Colorado
Springs and Castle Rock,
May 31, 1999, he spent
more than 35 years of
business and sales management
in Battle Management
and Air Operations
at joint and multi-national
levels. He held executive
positions with SAMCO
Scientific Corporation and
with Litton Data systems,
overseeing 2300 employees
and $250 million in annual
sales and $2 billion in new
contracts.
He dedicated himself
to the love and success of
his family that has been
encompassed in his firm
for the past 16 years. Under
his leadership, INTECON
was named Small Business
Administration Prime
Contractor of the year in
2013 and has obtained
multiple other prestigious
awards over the course of
its existence. He treated
employee, contractor and
customer alike with respect
and faithfulness.
Besides his wife, Jodie,
survivors include: his
mother, Gloria, Arcadia,
CA; son Matthew, Surprise,
AZ; Chris (Jamie)
Anderson, Las Vegas, NV;
stepsons, Zachary (Becky)
Pool and grandchildren
December, Grace, Keaton,
Tobias, Lillian and Zane;
Nicholas (Melissa) Pool
and grandchildren Josiah,
Isaac and Jon; step-daughter
Brittany (David) Braun
and children Caleb, Maisy
and Janie, all of Castle
Rock; several cousins, his
mother-in-law Gloria Adkins,
and brothers-in-law
Jim (Ann), Jeff and John
(Lori) Adkins, and sistersin-
law Jeanne Adkins,
Michelle Adkins, Jan (Riaz)
Vaziralli and Jacquie (Robert)
Murphy, and numerous
nieces and nephews,
all of who loved him for his
joy in life.
