Jon Anderson Obituary

Jon Anderson, 69

Jon Alan Anderson, 69, of Moses Lake passed away December 15, 2022 at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Jon was born December 21, 1952 in Richland, Washington to Leonard and Ann Anderson. Jon was active in sports, particularly basketball. Jon graduated from Richland High School in 1971, played NJCAA basketball at Blue Mountain Community College, Pendleton, Oregon as well as Lethbridge College, Lethbridge, Alberta. Jon graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1976. After graduation, he was employed by the Washington State Potato Commission. In 1979 Jon was employed by Western Kraft as a box salesman, moving to Moses Lake. He continued and thrived in the industry until his retirement as Senior Account Executive from International Paper. Upon retirement Jon established his own corrugated container brokerage, Pend Oreille Packaging.

Jon married Tiena Wolf on January 17, 1981 and had two children, Sydney and Patrick. He was active in youth sports coaching soccer, baseball and basketball. Jon was also instrumental in USTA youth tennis and the establishment of the Columbia Basin Tennis Association. In 2000 the cabin was completed on property on the Pend Oreille River, a place he loved. Jon enjoyed numerous fishing trips to Alaska with family and friends. He was an ardent Gonzaga basketball fan, following the team to numerous WCC tournaments as well as Final Four (you can find his name on his season ticket seats).

Jon is survived by his wife, Tiena; daughter Sydney (Tony) Marino; son Patrick Anderson; grandchildren, Madilyn and Wesley Marino; sister Karen Hitler, brothers Ron and Eric Anderson, numerous nieces and nephews.

What a burst of energy Jon would bring into a room, always upbeat and full of creative ideas. He often stopped by our winery as we were about to close to say hello, bring us a watermelon or in-season cherries. At times he'd be dressed in full Gonzaga fan garb and relate the latest Gonzaga basketball news. He was also an avid tennis player and very competitive, too! Will miss his energy and enthusiasm. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Hello, my name is Pat Gilmore and I worked with Jon through my company International Dunnage. I sincerely enjoyed speaking with Jon as we had a lot of things in common especially our love of Gonzaga Basketball. Our business talks would quickly be taken over with conversation related to sports history as I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and we had many connections especially with basketball. I truly enjoyed my calls with Jon and even had purchased his tickets for a Gonzaga game later this year. I will very much miss him and pray for his family and friends
