Morris Landon Obituary

Morris "Morry" Landon, 84

Morris J. (Morry) Landon

Morry Landon left his earthly home October 12, 2025 surrounded by his beloved family after a short battle with cancer and dementia.

Born February 18, 1941 to Clyde & Patricia (Sheffield) Landon in Wenatchee WA. Morry spent his early years in Osborn, WA while his dad, Clyde worked on Grand Coulee Dam. In 1949 the family moved to Moses Lake for Clyde to work on the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. Coming to Moses Lake at that time was almost like homesteading. The family of five lived in a small RV while Clyde built a home in the Peninsula area - some streets were still only gravel. Graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1959 Morry joined the US Army and was assigned to Karlsruh Germany with the 17th Battalion Signal Corps. He enjoyed his service time making lifelong friends. He was able to take advantage of being in Europe by traveling as much as his small salary allowed going to Spain, England, Ireland and areas surrounding Karlsruh. After his discharge he returned to Moses Lake and went to work for Leaf Volkswagen making a friendship with Evald Leaf that lasted a lifetime. This also began a love of VW "Bugs" and anything with a motor. Over the years Morry refurbished several "Bugs" and also a beautiful Karmann Ghia. Morry could fix anything that had a motor or any moving part. Along with his brother, Bob Landon and a group of fellow mechanics they built several dune buggies and were some of the first to ride the sand dunes of Moses Lake.

In 1967 he married the girl next door, Carla Anderson in Immanuel Lutheran Church. They moved to Yakima WA and Morry attended J M Perry Technical School where he became an Electrician using the GI Bill. It was here that Morry and Carla lost their first-born son, James Ryan. This loss began a deep awareness of the loving hand of our Lord in our lives. His guidance of their life's journey was never more evident than their return to Moses Lake and the birth of their oldest son, Paul in 1970 followed shortly by son, Scott in 1971.

Morry began his career as an electrician at Basic American Foods in 1970. In 1985 he became Potato Storage Supervisor. He served in this position until 2003 at which time Morry and Carla moved to Hanson Harbor on Lake Roosevelt (Wilbur WA) to a home they had been building for several years. Morry became a self-taught master wood craftsman making many family heirlooms. Life on the river was full of boating, family, bird watching and the appreciation of God's creation. Retirement was a time of traveling to AZ for the winter and back to paradise on Lake Roosevelt for the summer - truly the best of both worlds.

In 2020 Morry and Carla returned to Moses Lake to be close to family and friends. Morry is predeceased by his parents Clyde & Pat Landon, brother Bob Landon, sister Vickie Landon King, brothers in law Jim and Doug Anderson and son James Ryan. He is survived by his wife Carla of 58 years, son Paul (Stacie) Landon, Scott (Tonya) Landon, grandchildren Nicholas Landon, Zachary Landon, Trevor Landon, Morgan (Jarrod) Lindell, Ashley (Jake) Dieringer and great granddaughters Olivia & Lyla Dieringer and Ellie Lindell.

The family would like to thank for staff of Monroe Care and Assured Hospice for the loving care given to Morry and the family during this difficult journey.

Arrangements are being handled by Kayser's Chapel of Memories and services will be announced at a later date. Please express your thoughts and memories for the family at www.kayserschapel.com.
