EMILY “CAROLE” JONES

“It is with deep sadness we announce Emily ”Carole“ Holland Jones passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025. Carole was a beloved Wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister, teacher, black cat lover, and friend. She had an incredible career as a public school teacher in both Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA.

Carole was born in Hinton, West Virginia to James and Barbara Holland. At the age of one, her family moved to Portland, OR where James took a job with Union Pacific Railroad. Carole went on to earn a Bachelors in Education from Washington State University and a Masters of Education from Lewis and Clark College in 1974.

She married Richard Ellsworth Jones in March 1979. The two shared a love for entertaining, trips to the beach, and spending time with their grandchildren. Over the course of their 35 year marriage, the couple resided in Portland OR, Vancouve WA, and Fountain Hills, AZ and made friends everywhere they went.

Carole is survived by her son, Brian Jones, and her grandchildren, Cassidy Jones, Haley Scott, and Max Jones, Ashley and Cody. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Paul Holland, and her husband, Rick. A private service will be held in Portland, OR.”
