PHYLLIS ANN (HUSTON) ALDERIN
December 21, 1939 ˜ February 27, 2024

Phyllis Ann Alderin, 84, passed away peacefully at home Feb. 27, 2024. Phyllis was born in Camas, WA, Dec. 21, 1939, to Walter and Alvina Huston. She grew up in Camas and attended Camas High School where she was a member of Girls League, Drill Team and Pep Club. Her friends described her as filled with laughter, making others laugh too, and always having fun. Phyllis married Lloyd Haskins in 1957 and they had four children.
Phyllis later married Huey “Whitey” Alderin in January 1978. They loved gardening, cooking, entertaining and spending weekends in Ocean Park, WA. They also enjoyed time with friends at the NCO club socializing and dancing. Bill’s Chicken and Steak House, where they met, was also a favorite spot. In 1994, they retired and moved to Ocean Park. There, they continued their love of cooking for friends and looked forward to visits from children and grandchildren.
After Whitey passed in 1997, Phyllis spent several years wintering in Arizona, she always loved the sun.
In 2003, she returned to Vancouver. Phyllis was still passionate about cooking and was famous for her chocolate chip cookies and cheesecakes. She also liked knitting and crocheting, donating many hats to the homeless and making afghans for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her children on cruises, trips to Hawaii, the South, Mexico and California for vacations, grandson’s wedding and visits with relatives.
Phyllis was a beloved member of AA with 14 years of continuous sobriety and had many lifelong friendships within the rooms of AA.
Phyllis lived her last two years at Clearwater Springs Assisted Living in Vancouver.
She is survived by her children, Randy (Debbie) Haskins, Kori York, Danette (Greg) Sellman and Anthony (Danielle) Alderin. She also left behind five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Garnet Chamberlain; her husband, Huey Alderin; her son, Scott Haskins; and two grandchildren.
Her life will be celebrated on March 14 at 12:30 p.m., Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver. There will be a graveside service after followed by a meal. Please visit Evergreen Memorial Gardens tribute page.
