SCHUYLER - Adrian Zima, 78, of Schuyler, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Ruth Boettcher officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Committal will be in Schuyler Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the St. John's Church Fellowship Hall.
Adrian Zima was born May 13, 1936, at Abie to James and Laura (Krenk) Zima. He attended school in Abie through the eighth grade and then attended high school in David City, graduating from David City High School in 1954. On Aug. 20, 1955, Adrian was united in marriage to Marlene Posvar at St. John's Lutheran Church in Schuyler. They lived in Denver for a short time and then returned to the Linwood area where Adrian was a lifelong farmer. Adrian and Marlene moved to Schuyler in 2004, when Adrian "semi-retired."
He was a member of the Schuyler Eagles Club and the Z.C.B.J. lodge in Morse Bluff. He enjoyed playing cards, watching football and basketball and was a die-hard Western movie fan.
Adrian is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marlene of Schuyler; daughters, Debra (Dave) Faltys of Kearney, Missouri and Susan (Bob) Healy of Linwood; son, Scott (Jodi) Zima of Junction City, Kansas; sister-in-law, Margaret Zima of David City; brother-in-law, Bob Posvar of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Jennifer Rinehart, Tracey Richard, Brian and Katie Healy and Myla and Jaydon Zima; and four great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Kayla, Lily and Maggie Rinehart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Zima.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department, Linwood Volunteer Fire Department or family's choice.
