Amy Beatrice (Peterson) Kment was born on March 9, 1952, in Sidney, Nebraska to Orin and Margaret (Whited) Peterson. She attended Wayne Public Schools and graduated in 1970. On September 3, 1993, she married Arnold Kment and they lived on the farm north of Schuyler until 2024 when she moved to Seward. She had numerous careers including manufacturing, semi-truck driver and nursing.
Amy loved horses, dogs, eagles, casinos and life on the farm. She was a vibrant woman, celebrating her 72nd birthday at the gun range and then proceeding to the casino where she collected a jackpot's winnings. She lived a colorful life, with several surprise encounters including driving the infamous Dolly Parton through the 4-hour New York state thruway in her semi-truck, and a remarkable 3-day trip to Cairo, Egypt, when some wealthy Egyptians, with Embassy ties, coveted an Arabian mare she had purchased.
Amy is survived by her sister, Charlie (Mike) Volnek; nieces Bobbi Jo (Dale) Krumpus, Debbi (Dale) Schulte, Carman Galbrecht, Stephanie Bokelmann and Keri (Trevor) Cartagena; nephews David (Tammy) Peterson, Joe (Heidi) Bokelmann, Chris (Jillian) Volnek, and Alex (Ashley) Volnek; and special friends Dean and Vicki Shonka. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Karen Kment, Marlene (Larry) Hartman, Irene (Mike) Starkey, Jo Ann Colfack, Lorraine Moore, Sally Roh, Deb Kment; and brothers-in-law Richard (Fran) Kment and Donald (Paula) Kment.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, parents, brothers Darrel Peterson and Bob Peterson, and sister Shirley Bokelmann.
