COLUMBUS - Frances T. Ziemba, 77, of Columbus, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Riverside Lodge in Grand Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, with the Rev. David Fulton officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. vigil, and 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday, all at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.
Mrs. Ziemba was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Humphrey, to Carl and Theodosia (Micek) Sempek. She received her education in Platte County District 42 near Lindsay.
She married Johnny Ziemba Sept. 28, 1928, in Lindsay. She worked at J.C. Penney's doing alterations for 15 years. She also worked at Jackson Cleaners and the Bluebird, all as a seamstress.
She was a member of the church, St. Bonaventure Guild and volunteered at the Simon House. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, country and car racing.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie (Larry) Dubas, Annette (Delane) Elstermeier, all of Grand Island, and Darlene (Gary) Elstermeier of Chapman; three sisters, Mary Ann (Joe) Smyth of Santa Rose, Calif., Bernice (Leonard) Drozd of Duncan, and Delores Sempek of Columbus; one brother, Joe (Inez) Sempek of Genoa; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Rose Moritz and Angeline Placzek; and two brothers, Ed and Steve Sempek.
