December 11, 1935 - January 31, 2026
Martha Aerni, age 90, of Columbus died Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Thursday 4 to 6 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
Martha was born December 11, 1935, in rural Platte County to Leo and Genevieve (Scheidts) Laska. She received her early education in Duncan and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1953. She was married to Lumir Krepel. To this union her three children were born. She later married Russell Aerni on November 5, 1977, in Columbus. Along with raising her family she volunteered with the Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts. She worked in the Platte County Election Office for 41 years until her retirement.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Deb (Tom) Mohning of Columbus; son, Terry Krepel of Columbus; son-in-law, Jim Reisdorff of David City; grandsons, Tony Murphy, John Murphy and Tim Mohning; great-granddaughters, Addy, Sophie and Alexandra; brother, Leo (Linda) Laska Jr. of California; special niece, Mary (Larry) Miksch of Columbus, along with numerous nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russell Aerni, daughter, Shari Reisdorff, and brothers, Bernard Laska and James Laska.

I will miss aunt Martha. We would visit her in the summers while growing up. I remember her cooking amazing meals and being very hospitable. Rest in peace, aunt Martha!
