Phyllis 'Babe' A. Lukassen

Phyllis "Babe" A. Lukassen, 95, of David City passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Memorials have been directed In Care of the Family.
Phyllis was born on Feb. 8, 1928, at David City, Nebraska, to Henry and Anna C. (Meysenburg) Lukassen. Phyllis attended grade school at St. Mary in David City and Holy Trinity in Brainard. She attended Brainard High School for two years, before transferring to David City, where she graduated from David City High School in 1945.
Phyllis worked at the 5 & 10 store, Welkers and the Metz Distributing Company, all in David City. She later went to work as a telephone operator in David City, later moving to Lincoln, where she continued working as an operator for 44 years. After her retirement, she moved back to David City, her hometown.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Carol Reznicek of Columbus, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Kate Martin, Doris Wrede, and Henrietta "Peg" Kay; four brothers-in-law; and one niece.
A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Mary Church, David City, with Fr. Brian Connor as celebrant. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Chermok Funeral Home of David City was in charge of handling arrangements.
